In May, 2023, I traveled to Iceland with glass sculptor Peter Bremers. Peter has been influenced by ice formations in the past and our discussion lead to the idea of exhibiting together.
The idea was to seek inspiration from the landscape and ice formations. Our journey brought us along the southeastern coast. Along Vatnajökull, the largest glacier on the European continent.
The ice floes of this glacier fall into the glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón.
Seeing it for the first time, I knew this could be my source of inspiration.
These bergs are visually inspiring, offering a chance to create new compositions. I feel I must pay tribute to these monumental, ethereal forms.
As we witness the glacier retracting each year, it is a reminder of the fragility of our planet and that our resources are limited.
