The fascination with the Berkshires that initially impelled Schantz to notice every little detail settled into a more significant appreciation for living there and being nourished by her gifts every day. Schantz became so attuned to the weather and wind patterns, the changes of season and their effects on the land, that he intuitively knew where to find the most vivid sunsets and gorgeously-lit river bends.
